AfriForum’s #YourTown campaign: Nelspruit branch does clean-up action

On 13 October 2018, the AfriForum branch in Nelspruit held a clean-up action in cooperation with the Nelspruit Community Forum as part of the civil rights organisation’s #YourTown campaign. The action took place roundabout the wetlands in Figtree Street between the Hoërskool Bergvlam and the Lowveld High School.

More than 120 garbage bags were cleared away by the end of the day. Repairs were also done to the pathway seeing as it presented a danger to the community. AfriForum will soon contact the Mbombela Local Municipality to erect notices to discourage the community from littering. AfriForum is also considering placing trashcans around the area.

“The #YourTown campaign will be launched in various areas in Nelspruit and we are proud of the fact that we are helping the community to clean up the town and make it neat again,” says Devon McCullough, Chairperson of the AfriForum branch in Nelspruit.
