AfriForum’s Roodepoort neighbourhood watch safeguards community

The AfriForum neighbourhood watch in Roodepoort on 17 January 2020 held its first monthly crime prevention and mass patrol for 2020. The patrol was well attended by role-players and neighbourhood watch members and four search and rescue teams, four SAPS vehicles, three medical call-out units and approximately 20 security companies, amongst others, participated in the patrol.

The group of 86 members assembled in Fairlands and patrolled the surrounding community. No serious incidents were reported during the patrol.

“It is really encouraging to me that we succeeded in attracting so much cooperation and support from organisations other than AfriForum to patrol with us. The cooperation between the SAPS and other security companies reached unprecedented highs,” says Fanie Naudé, Chairperson of AfriForum’s Roodepoort branch.
