AfriForum’s neighbourhood watches in Vanderbijlpark, Roodepoort, Krugersdorp, Fochville and Randfontein on 14 and 15 March 2020 executed a mass patrol in their respective areas in cooperation with the SAPS, the local CPF’s, community members, various security companies and safety institutions. This patrol is part of AfriForum’s national mass patrol to increase policing visibility.

Altogether 171 AfriForum patrollers participated in the patrol and 5 397 km were covered using 139 vehicles. The patrol started at 18:00 and continued until 06:00 during which four incidents were reported.

“The Gauteng South neighbourhood watches will continuously tackle projects and regularly hold patrols to combat crime and promote safety in cooperation with the SAPS and other safety role-players,” says Hillel Coetzer, AfriForum’s Head of Community Safety for the northern region.
