Emergency fund Western Cape water crisis

February 6, 2018 deur Admin

The City of Cape Town predicts that municipal water can dry up within a few months and reference is made thereto as Day Zero. This day is a reality if water economy doesn’t take place or good rainfall isn’t received shortly.

AfriForum is currently busy developing a strategy to assist Western Cape communities and subsequently avoid a possible water crisis. The first part of the strategy entails saving as much water as possible. The organisation circulated water saving tips amongst the public so that people can become aware of the emergency.

The second part of the strategy encompasses the establishment of water collection points across the Mother City. The costs related to such a large-scale water supply strategy are however enormous. That is why AfriForum is making a plea to you as an individual and to businesses to contribute to the emergency fund.

The emergency fund will consequently be used for, amongst others, the erection of reservoirs and storage tanks, as well as to cover the logistical costs related to the water distribution.
