AfriForum’s White River branch and SAPS join forces against crime

On 2 February 2017 White River’s AfriForum branch handed over a copy of the cooperative agreement that was reached between AfriForum and the South African Police Service (SAPS) in Centurion on 16 January 2017, to Lt. Col. Ngomane, the Commanding Officer of the White River police station. The parties also held a strategic meeting where various of the town’s problems were identified.

“The goal of the agreement is to follow an integrated approach to improve safety and to promote community cooperation in the fight against crime,” says Piet Skead, Chairperson of AfriForum’s White River branch.

Skead further says that the local branch is very excited about the agreement with the police and that they already receive good cooperation and support from the SAPS.

“The success that we achieved against the EFF’s planned land grabs last Sunday is due to AfriForum’s supportive role. We look forward to even better cooperation in future,” says Ngomane.

Dian Pretorius, Chairperson of AfriForum’s White River neighbourhood watch, says that they are very excited about the road ahead and stresses that this agreement makes it possible for the AfriForum neighbourhood watch to contribute even more to the fight against crime.
