AfriForum’s Edenvale neighbourhood watch participates in SAPS raid

The AfriForum neighbourhood watch in Edenvale on 7 February 2018 executed a successful profiling raid in Edenvale in cooperation with the South African Police Service (SAPS), the Ekurhuleni Metropolitan Police Department (EMPD), the Department of Home Affairs and various security companies.

This raid started at 8:30 and ended at approximately 11:00. A large number of beggars and loiterers were removed from the streets and taken to the police station for profiling to determine if they are illegal immigrants.

“The Edenvale neighbourhood watch will continuously participate in similar operations and execute regular patrols to attempt and combat crime and promote safety in cooperation with the SAPS and other safety institutions,” says Derelle Steyn, Chairperson of AfriForum’s Edenvale neighbourhood watch.

“The neighbourhood watch wants to make a positive difference in our community, but we are only as strong as our membership. We are therefore making a plea to the community of Edenvale to become involved with the AfriForum branch. Members of the public can also phone our emergency number (083 432 1828) in case of emergency or for further information,” concludes Steyn.
