AfriForum and TKAG consider appeal of fracking judgement

The North Gauteng High Court in Pretoria today dismissed AfriForum and Treasure the Karoo Action Group’s joint application to set aside government’s intended fracking regulations. The judgement is being studied by the two organisations, who are awaiting legal advice on whether material grounds for appeal exist.

Marcus Pawson, AfriForum’s Head of Environmental Affairs, says that AfriForum and TKAG maintain that the regulations are unlawful on various grounds.

According to Jonathan Deal, CEO of TKAG, both organisations hope to appeal the judgement.
