AfriForum neighbourhood watch assists in extinguishing fires
The Stilfontein neighbourhood watch of the civil rights organisation AfriForum recently assisted in extinguishing a fire which originated on both sides of the N12 towards Klerksdorp.
Pieter du Preez, Chairperson of AfriForum’s Stilfontein neighbourhood watch, says that the neighbourhood watch was informed about the fire on 16 June 2017 just after 21:00. “We acted immediately and jumped in to help. Danie Scheepers, one of our neighbourhood watch members, made his firefighting trailer available, which was of enormous help in extinguishing the fire,” says Du Preez. He furthermore mentions that other fires also originated during the course of last weekend in the area, but were tamed in time by the neighbourhood watch.
