AfriForum mobilises communities in KZN for national patrol

The civil rights organisation AfriForum this past weekend mobilised 34 communities in KwaZulu-Natal to participate in the national patrol in cooperation with various role-players. These role-players included the South African Police Service (SAPS), the South African National Defence Force (SANDF), community policing forums (CPF’s) and security companies.

The patrols were executed in both rural and residential areas in order to help lower the increasingly high crime figures.

“We received excellent support from the SAPS, from provincial to station level. There are already police stations that haven’t previously participated in the patrols that contacted AfriForum to enquire who they can contact to participate in their various areas,” says Eugene van Aswegen, AfriForum’s Provincial Coordinator for KwaZulu-Natal.

AfriForum would like to thank each member for their participation in the national patrol, as well as the SAPS and every private institution that participated.

Contact Eugene van Aswegen at 076 427 1757 if you would like to establish a farm watch or neighbourhood watch in your town or want to get involved at AfriForum’s existing safety structures. Alternatively you can SMS “Buurtwag” to 45267 (R1).
