AfriForum and MEC team up against crime

AfriForum and the KwaZulu-Natal Department of Community Safety have now teamed up in the fight against crime in this province.

Various speakers, among other Thomas Mxolisi Kaunda, the MEC for Community Safety in KwaZulu-Natal, last week made a presentation to members of the Durban community to launch AfriForum’s Project Nehemia. This project was launched to create a platform where communities, authorities and other role-players can work together against crime and launch projects against crime.

“It is important that people start using technology to make South Africa safer and create hope again. Cooperation between relevant role-players will also increase the possibility of winning the war on crime,” says Maj Gen Roland de Vries, former Deputy Chief of the South African Army.

In his speech, Kaunda confirmed his cooperation with AfriForum and his support for Project Nehemia.

“It is AfriForum’s plan to implement the plan across the province, and we are excited about the support we enjoy during all our community visits,” said Eugene van Aswegen, AfriForum’s Provincial Coordinator for KwaZulu-Natal.
