AfriForum directs urgent request to communities to safeguard themselves

The civil rights organisation AfriForum is today once again directing a request to communities to join their local neighbourhood or farm watches in an effort to safeguard more South Africans. If no safety structures are available to people, they can contact AfriForum to support them in the establishment of structures, or to refer them to structures which they can join. 

“A lot of people are asking us what can be done to once again make our country safe. However, we must start safeguarding each other ourselves within the legal framework. Neighbourhood and farm watches are proven concepts that can combat crime together with the police and private security,” says Ian Cameron, AfriForum’s Head of Community Safety.

Cameron furthermore says that AfriForum will soon announce the date of the AfriForum 911 safety conference.

“In the run-up to the safety conference, we will also shortly make available more detail regarding our adapted national safety strategy.”

The SAPS acknowledges AfriForum’s safety structures as official partner in the fight against crime.
