AfriForum creates hope at Wollies Animal Project

On Thursday 28 February 2019 AfriForum planted trees at the Wollies Animal Project in Pretoria North. The civil rights organisation also gathered food and toys for the animals and sponsored 200 leashes. This project forms part of AfriForum’s #AnchorTownRoadshow, which is aimed at creating hope within communities.

According to Jaco Grobbelaar, AfriForum’s District Coordinator for Greater Pretoria North, the goal of this action is to support these people who have to do the hard work of caring for homeless dogs and cats. “AfriForum gladly supports the organisation in its goal to be a shelter for these dogs and cats and therefore we would like to help. We decided to plant trees so that the animals need not lie in the sun. We also gathered food and toys and sponsored leashes to help Wollies with looking after the animals,” says Grobbelaar.

“Community members who were part of the action also walked the dogs – which was equal fun for human and animal alike,” adds Grobbelaar.

AfriForum would also like to encourage other communities to become involved with similar projects to make a positive difference in their area and to create hope once more among humans and animals.
