  • 2010 07 12 – AfriForum congratulates FIFA on 2010 Soccer World Cup Tournament

AfriForum has congratulated FIFA’s local organising committee and all other parties involved in the organising of the 2010 Soccer World Cup Tournament on the excellent manner in which the tournament had been staged.

“The great challenge however now is to apply the high standards which characterised the organisation of the tournament, to struggling government institutions such as municipalities,” added Alana Bailey, Deputy CEO of AfriForum.

“Also with regard to crime prevention, the statistics from during the tournament have proven that political will, more efficient law enforcement and coordinated cooperation amongst state institutions result in a significant decrease in crime. The authorities now have to display commitment to ensure that South Africa does not slip back into a paralysing spiral of crime once more.”
