AfriForum will this morning plant ten trees at the Voortrekker Monument as symbol of the importance of heritage.
According to Julius Kleynhans, AfriForum’s Head of Environmental Affairs, trees are not only essential for life, but also form part of our heritage and add value to it. ‘Plant a tree to commemorate a significant event. It is, for example, the perfect opportunity to plant a tree to celebrate the birth of a child and to establish his/her heritage in this way,’ Kleynhans added. In years to come, the tree will serve as a fitting commemoration of this day. For the generations that will see this tree live, it will be the legacy of those bound by the historic event it commemorates,’ Kleynhans said.
AfriForum encourages everyone to start planting trees. ‘What a beautiful gift life is, and what better contributor than a tree there is to life!’ Kleynhans added.
AfriForum will plant ten trees at the Monument, which include Karee, Mountain Karee, Wild Olive, Wild Peach and Puzzle Bush trees.
